Starting this fall, Texline ISD students can become certified in a “High-Needs Career Area” while attending high school. Texline ISD, along with Frank Phillips College (FPC), Channing ISD, and Dalhart ISD, have formed a Career and Technical Education (CTE) consortium entitled the Northwest Panhandle Innovation Zone (NPIZ). Students travel to Dalhart to take health sciences, welding, or diesel mechanics from certified instructors. These career pathways are needed by local businesses. This program is the first of its kind in the Texas Panhandle and is an example of how small schools can offer opportunities to grow.

When you have great staff like ours, it is easy to celebrate them! Our November employee of the month is Coach Dawson Nicholson who was nominated for his hard work in leading our cross country teams to state this year. Coach Nicholson is a Texline native. He graduated from Texline in 2016 and returned as the head girls basketball coach in 2022. Besides girls basketball, Coach Nicholson also coaches cross country and track, and teaches English and electricity. His favorite thing about his job is getting to share in the wins with his students, like placing third at the girls state cross country meet this year.
